Asho Chin Hymn Book (with Staff Notation) Printing Project)

Introduction

Even, Asho Chin Baptist Conference is about 117 years old, until now Asho Chin Hymn Book with staf notation was not being used in worship service. Asho Hymn books are just printed without staff notation. Here is the history of Asho Chin hymn book.

The first Chin Hymn book of less than 20 hymns was published in 1892. As the second time, an eihgt pare tentative edition of 22 Hymns was printed in 1927.

After years of careful work this Asho Chin Hymns of Praise, with over 170 hymns, was published in 1941. Before the hymn books could be sent to the Asho Chins, Yangon was occupied by the Japanese and the hymn books with the press were abandoned. During the Japanese occupation Samo Pu Lau and Samo Nyi Lay went down to Yangon and managed to get a few copies.

The present Asho Hymns of Praise with 307 hymns and 47 responsive readings was published in 1951. ln that book, more hymns with 47 Responsive Readings were added by Samo Hla U, by the request of Asho Baptist Conference.

Situation of Asho Chin Baptist Conference There were 18 churches and about 30000 church members in Asho Chin Baptist Conference before 2000 AD. In the present days, during the years of 21st century A mission, 18 of churches are increasing into 34 churches and 30000 of church members are increasing into 50000 members. That kinds of increasing situation is because of evangelization, Bible studies, teaching and praising the songs, and teaching `

Asho Chin literature. Therefore, in order to do more successful mission, Sub—committee of Asho Chin Hymn Book (with Staff Notation) was founded by Asho Chin Baptist Conference, in the 5th of January 2004.
